Hōhepa is a therapeutic community based on the work of Dr. Rudolf Steiner. We support a wide variety of people with intellectual disabilities, some of whom work in our Cheesery. Hōhepa makes a range of award-winning organic dairy products with quality milk from healthy happy cows, grazing chemical-free, lovingly managed pastures. Holistic regenerative farming practices are the cornerstone of our dairy enterprise.
We currently have a vacancy in our Cheesery for a Cheese Maker. You will be working alongside the people we support; note that this is not a Support Worker role. This is a rewarding job, working in a fast-paced environment with great opportunities for training and development, and potential to progress in future.
To be successful in this role you will:
· Be reliable, with a strong work ethic.
· Have an interest in the food industry - in particular in dairy processing and cheesemaking.
· Be an accurate record-keeper, with excellent English, both verbal and written.
· Be able to grasp new concepts quickly.
· Be a cooperative and supportive team player.
· Have high standards of hygiene.
Ideally, you will have previous experience or exposure to dairy processing and/or cheese manufacturing, as well as working within and contributing to Food Control and Risk Management Plans.
The hours of work for this position are generally 8:00am to 5:00pm, Monday to Friday, with seasonal variations meaning that there may be some weekend work. The hours can be flexible for the right candidate.
