Hōhepa Wellington (Kapiti) is a small entity of an organisation that is known nationally for over 60 years with multiple branches spread through Aotearoa. We are a fast growing disability service that offers both residential and vocational services. We are seeking an amazing individual to work closely with both the people we support and a team of staff. Our organisation is based in a beautiful rural location of Kapiti, which provides an ideal setting to support our people to develop their potential.

With a focus on enabling good lives, each day is different as we support people to live a life, fully lived. From completing household tasks to supporting people with paid employment, no day is ever the same. We are currently seeking people with patience, maturity and integrity for part-time and casual Support Worker roles at Hohepa Hawke's Bay’s Kapiti site.

No experience is necessary – full training is provided. We have full-time and part-time vacancies available, working alongside people with intellectual disabilities with the belief that they can do anything and can learn to be able and independent.

Some of the people we support can be very active and strong, and we require applicants with a mature approach, who can cope with the mental and physical demands of this role. This can be a challenging role, but also highly rewarding as you journey alongside young people to support their development.  To be successful in this role you will:

  • Have the abilities to both display empathy and respect and enable people to achieve their goals and plans
  • Have good communication skills, be able to communicate clearly and appropriately with a range of people, and be able to maintain accurate records and progress notes.
  • Have a mature attitude and good interpersonal skills; this includes being practical and 'down to earth' about the nature of the role, and being able to work with people who may have high support needs and challenging behaviour without becoming flustered.
  • Be willing and able to work within Hōhepa’s values and practices (Inclusive Social Development based on the work of Dr Rudolf Steiner)
  • Hold a full, clean driver licence
  • Be physically fit to meet the demands of the role; be drug free; and be able to pass our vetting requirements

Come join Hohepa and share in the life experience of others.
